This painting is about the never ending search for a part of the world that is our own. We grasp at things we believe we want and we leave ourselves vulnerable when we are at our strongest. One of the most commonly searched for things in this world may perhaps be love. However cliche "the search for love" may be, it still is a valuable and relevant search throughout all of our lives, whether it's a love for someone or for a passion of ours. For all of us, when we realize we want something, the search begins.

Wow, the level of detail on the minor things in this painting are really incredible. I feel like this is one of those paintings you can't really "get" until you've looked at it a number of times and each time, you find something new to admire. How long did it take you?
